This fridge magnet, designed for Octane 3was a fun little thing to design and we went for education the masses w. the munchies by drawing a scientific diagram showing how magnetism works. Sticking to the usual high contrast iconography and adding a strange robot soldier with round glowing eyes to make science interesting Octane 3 is a British art-toy store and the magnet is a little joke on the British obsession with World War II, so the soldier is based on a German WWII soldier and thus the Fridge Magnet becomes the Fritz Magnet, we feared that Octane 3 wouldn't go for something like that and decided not to tell them. Sometimes keeping a bit of truth from your client is a good thing, no matter how much you like them. The magnets came in packages of three, so our set came with designs by two other illustrators/artists and I'm not sure if that was the right approach saleswise as there was little chance of someone liking Jon Burgerman's work would fancy my design, but then again, a pack of three is a nice little cluster - it's a crowd, really and crowds are always fun. On an odd side note: our fridge isn't magnetic so none of these up... |
