One day introcution to 3D typography and type design based on scrabble. The participants were each given three or four letters from s standard game of scrabble and a few rules. I let them decide a colour scheme for this and encouraged use of the good woorkshop facilities the place had to offer. In other places, my approach would be different, always based on stretching the facilities the participants have to the maximum. This is an important part of my one-day workshops as there isn't much time to generate ideas or find materials - participant will have to be quick-witted on several levels in order to get things done before the deadline In the end, the actual game of 3D-scrabble was a disaster - much like with the DIY top trumps but the actual gameplay was not relevant in other senses than as a motivator to produce 3D letterforms. back to One-day index |
