zine secrets
Zines are not well known in Denmark and for a college that focuses on what you can do for a client, a self-initiated and self-motivated project is a foreign thing, I gave them a theme, a very lose theme, and they had to come up with something interesting for that, this was a challenge for the majority too. (challenges are a good thing.) Next I took away the one tool they had used for every single project they'd ever done at the college: No computers allowed for the production.
Now, just like out there in "the industry" when they present a project here, they usually hang printouts on a pinboard, occasionally they make a dummy, this way, you present something that shows how your design is supposed to look. Traditionally in the industry, when you presnt your work, it's an approximation, for practical reasons it shows your intentions. A Presentation is always part visual and part persuasion, you have some safety in being able to say "This green will be flouruscent in the final product." And that's all fair enough, a presentation is a negotiation and it's a very good way to find out which way the client preferres the project goes.
